I keep a Google My Map of everywhere I go in Thailand: the beaches and temples, the food worth the drive, every place I've slept, and the layovers that got me there. This page puts all pins and the provinces I've visited on a satellite globe you can fly from space down to street level.

How it's built

1. Google My MapsThe map I actually edit. Its KML export is the only source: pins, notes, photos, stay dates and province outlines.
2. Python pipelineParses the KML, bakes satellite imagery and terrain into content-hashed tile packs, and resizes the photos to WebP.
3. three.jsA hand-written globe engine that streams only the tiles you're looking at, with terrain, atmosphere and flight paths.
4. S3 + CloudFrontStatic hosting. A GitHub Action checks the map every day and rebuilds the site when something changed.
